To register for Tewksbury Memorial Library programs requiring sign up, just call the children’s desk at 978-640-4496 on the date indicated or try signing up online through our calendar which you can access from the website at www.tewksburypl.org. If the program doesn’t say registration is required, then just drop in.
Pumpkin decorating contest Kids ages 3-14 can enter this contest. Simply decorate a pumpkin — no carving allowed — and bring it in to the Tewksbury Memorial Library Children’s Room any time from Oct. 14 to 21. It will be displayed in the library and then from Oct. 21 to 28, anyone who likes can vote on their favorites. The top three vote-getters will win special prizes, and everyone who enters a pumpkin will receive a certificate of participation. Winners will be announced on Oct. 28 so the pumpkins can go home to decorate your front steps in time for Halloween.
Trick or treat at the library on Saturday, Oct. 30, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Any child wearing his or her Halloween costume can trick or treat at all three of the desks at the library and pick up special treats. Come by and show off your trick or treat wear.
Mother Goose rhyme time is a drop in story, song and movement program for children up to age 3, on Friday, Oct. 1 at 10:30 a.m. or Monday, Oct. 18 at 10:30 a.m. No registration is required. Older siblings are always welcome, too.
Tiny tykes story time is for children up to 18 months on Monday, Oct. 4 and Friday, Oct. 8 at 10:30 a.m. Enjoy simple songs, stories and movement. No registration required and older siblings are always welcome to come along.
Wiggle time is story time for children who are 2 years old — ages 18-23 months are also welcome to join. This Story Time is on Thursdays at 10:30am on Oct. 7, 14 and 21. Space is limited to 15 children and their caregivers. Registration is required and begins on September 28th; you may register for any two out of the three available dates. Call the children’s desk or register online through our calendar.
October’s drop in toddler craft will be held on Thursday, Oct. 28, 10:30-11:30 a.m. Come by any time during the hour to make a Halloween treat bag craft. No registration required and children ages 18 to 23 months are also welcome to join us. Please, no children ages 3 and up should attend expecting to make the craft.
Preschool story time for children ages 3-5 is on Tuesdays on Oct. 12, 19 and 26 at 11 a.m. The library will feature Halloween stories at the Oct. 26 story time.
Halloween costume-a-rama story time is on Wednesday, Oct. 27, at 7 p.m. Wear your Halloween costume for this evening program. No registration is required, just drop in to hear stories, sing songs and move.
Dads and donuts story time Saturday, Oct. 23, at 10:30 a.m. for ages 3-6. Dads, and other caregivers are also welcome, can bring their little ones to listen to stories, which will be followed by coffee, juice and donuts for both parents and kids. Thank you to the Friends of the Library for sponsoring this event.
Evening story and craft for children ages 3-6 can attend on Tuesday, Oct. 5, at 6:30 p.m. Children will hear stories about a specific topic and then make a craft. No registration is required, but come promptly at 6:30 p.m. to hear the stories.
Drop in preschool crafts for ages 3-6 on Wednesday, Oct. 6, 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. and make a black cat hat craft. On Wednesday, Oct. 20, 2:30-3:30 p.m. come and make a crunch art pumpkin. No registration required, just come by any time during the hour. Children under the age of 3 should not come expecting to make the craft.
Miss Amy will be offering another family yogaclass for kids ages 4-10 and their grown ups on Thursday, Oct. 21, at 3:30 p.m. Bring a yoga mat or towel for every “body” attending the class. This class is limited in space, and registration begins on Oct. 12. Call the children’s desk or sign up online through our calendar.
Family matinee Saturday this month features the film “How to Train Your Dragon” on Oct. 16 at 2 p.m. Bring a blanket and pillows if you like, and snacks and drinks may be consumed while you remain in the room. All ages are invited, however proper movie behavior is expected at all times. No registration is required. Thank you for the generosity of the Friends of the Library and the Lions Club for this movie program.
Decorate a pumpkin craft Thursday, Oct. 14, 3:30-4:30 p.m. Kids ages 5-12 can bring a pumpkin and use all of our materials to decorate it however they like — no carving is involved. Drop in any time during the hour to work on your pumpkin. Pumpkins are not provided; you must bring your own. Then enter your pumpkin into our Pumpkin Decorating Contest afterwards and win prizes.
Read to me book and craft clubfor children in kindergarten to third grade. In this club, children all read the same book, then snack while talking about the story. Then we make a craft based on the book. We’ll meet on Tuesday, Oct. 19, 4 p.m. to discuss “The Shivers in the Fridge.” Pick up a copy of the book to read before we meet at the Children’s desk. Each club event is limited to 15 children and registration begins on Oct. 12. Register by calling the Children’s desk or registering through our online calendar.
Book Nuts is the book club for older readers in third through sixth grades. Students will read a chapter book and the meet to snack, discuss the story and make a craft. The club will meet on Wednesday, Oct. 13 at 4 p.m. This month’s book is “The Boy Who Climbed Into the Moon,”by David Almond. Pick up a copy of the book at the children’s desk to read before the club meets. This group is limited to 15 kids and registration begins on Oct. 5.
School age drop in craft for October will be a Frankenstein windsock for ages 6-12, 3:30-4:30 p.m. on Thursday, Oct. 7. This makes a great Halloween decoration. No registration required.
