The first of what will likely be many updates has appeared for Fallout: New Vegas, Obsidian's buggy-but-brilliant post-apocalyptic roleplaying game. The first patch is for PC, and while it won't fix everything, it's stitched together a few of the game's open wounds.

The update fixes "quest and scripting issues" and will automatically download to your game. As of this time, there's no news on an Xbox 360 or PlayStation 3 patch, but Bethesda has said it plans to support the consoles as quickly as possible.

It seems that Bethesda has its work cut out for it if it wants to fix New Vegas' veritable army of problems. As badly as some of these fixes are needed, however, I think we can agree on one thing -- Doc Mitchell's spinning mutant freak head needs to stay!We know a lot of you gaming enthusiasts have been playing Fallout: New Vegas non-stop since its release yesterday. We recently posted an initial review of the new game and also a review roundup and most opinions were pretty favourable except for one thing, the amount of technical bugs. Most reviews remarked on this and said the scores for Fallout: New Vegas would have been higher if there had been no glitches.

However there’s some good news for those of you who’ve been plagued with problems as Alan Ng over on Product-Reviews tell us that Bethesda has just announced a patch update to address these technical issues. Users on PC’s, Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 have all reported problems with freezing whilst playing the game.

The statement from Bethesda to Kotaku reads, “We are currently working on releasing patches/updates as quickly as possible for Fallout: New Vegas, for all platforms. Announcements regarding the patches are forthcoming.” We would anticipate the patch updates will be available in weeks.

For more on this go to product-reviews.net. Following our previous review roundup we had several comments from readers who’d had problems with Fallout: New Vegas so the news of a patch update will be very welcome. Maybe you think the game should never have been released with the problems in the first place though? We’d welcome your thoughts on this so please do send in your comments.anticipated sequel, Fallout: New Vegas to the public after gamers had waited months for it. While the game is exactly what everyone had hoped for, it’s also not without the flaws that naturally come with a title of this magnitude. In New Vegas you can find everything from exorcism heads to crazy freezes at the most inopportune time.

Thankfully, Bethesda has acknowledged the issues quickly and has already started fixing the glitches at hand. Apparently, there was a patched released for the PC version of the game a bit earlier, thus we expect a console release to take place within the next week as well. Speaking through an official press release for the game, a Bethesda representative assured users that the company was aware of the issue and working on it.
