John Lennon s Birthday:If John Lennon was not shot in New York in 1980, the global icon of youthful rebellion may have celebrated its 70 th anniversary this Saturday. Fans around the world celebrate the day with the fact that his widow, Yoko Ono, has
called passion.Almost 30 years after Lennon was shot and killed by Mark David Chapman outside the Dakota apartment building where he lived, fans of all ages gathered directly across the street today in Central Park called “Strawberry Fields”, in honor of his memory to sing his songs.Watch “World News with Diane Sawyer” for more on this story today on ABC.Lennon’s life and work still draws a lot of fresh interest and new fans.Today, Google honor the musician on its home page with animated Doodle started his solo song, “Imagine.”His solo albums of all time reissued together in a set of “John Lennon signature box, which includes some of his personal tapes, notes and sketches.There’s a new movie comes out, “Nowhere Boy,” about pre-Beatles Lennon’s teenage years in Liverpool, England.A Nov. 22, PBS “American Masters” series aired a documentary entitled “LennoNYC,” look at the last decade of his life Lennon living in New York with Ono. The documentary includes rare home movies of five years, Lennon withdrew from music to raise his son Sean. It was an act of domestic regarded as radical at the time.
“There really was no model for his father, who stayed home with their children for the father to be as involved in raising his family and making that a priority,” said Alan Light, rock critic for Rolling Stone. “In the 70 years that was not really what you saw so much.”
