The search for Dwight Clark, a missing student, came to a tragic end today when his body was pulled from Bellingham Bay in Washington. Clark, an 18-year old Western Washington University student had been missing for more than a week.

According to the Seattle Post Intelligencer, investigators found Clark’s drivers license along with the body.

Western President Bruce Shepard said in a statement:

“We are profoundly saddened, and extend our deepest condolences to the Clark family and all who knew Dwight personally.”

Many Western Washington University students gathered on campus today for a memorial for Clark.

Clark was last seen around 2 a.m. on September 26th leaving a party. Friends assumed that he was on his way back to his room, but about 40 minutes later he sent a blank text message to a friend from downtown Bellingham.

Since that night, search teams have been looking for Clark in the Bellingham area. Clark’s body was found earlier today by an independent contractor working for the Port of Bellingham.
