The National Hurricane Center (NHC) reports that Hurricane Igor has weakened to a category one hurricane with winds of 85 mph. However Hurricane Igor remains a very large system with hurricane force winds that extend 90 mile for the center and tropical storm force winds that extend out some 345 miles from the center. The NHC also reports measured winds on Bermuda at 40 mph.
At this time Hurricane Igor is about 235 miles from Bermuda and is moving towards the north-northwest at 12 mph. Igor is expected to turn to the north later today and pass over or near Bermuda on Monday. Bermuda is already seeing huge waves and rough surf, especially along the south shore. We have reports of rising seas and wave as high as 20 feet already taking place along the south shore. All interests should rush to completion any remaining hurricane preparations that need to be done.

Tropical Storm Julia has winds of 50 mph and is moving into the north Atlantic and should become a remnant low in about 2 days and should be absorbed by Igor. We also are monitoring Invest 94L about 200 miles west of the Cape Verde Islands the NHC gives this area a 60% chance of becoming a tropical cyclone within the next 48 hours.
