one man was killed and two women were wounded in a shooting at Fort Bliss.

According to Fort Bliss officials, the shooting began inside a base convenience store called the "Shopette."

Investigators say a so far unidentified man opened fire on two women.

Fort Bliss law enforcement officers later shot and killed the gunman.

FBI agents are now on the base, investigating the shooting.

It's unclear what may have led up to the shooting or if the gunman or the victims were in the military or civilians workers on the base.

Fort Bliss close to the Mexican border near El Paso, Texas, but straddles the Texas-New Mexico border. Most of the base is in New Mexico, but the main headquarters is in Texas.

The base is home to the First Armored Division.

President Obama visited there last month to meet the troops and mark the end of the official combat mission in Iraq.
