Friday morning's freezing rain and snow have made for treacherous driving conditions around the Brazos Valley and officials with the Texas Department of Transportation are urging people to stay off the roads.

TxDOT crews have been working throughout the night sanding bridges and overpasses, but despite the preparations, spokesperson Bob Colwell says everything is frozen and may not defrost until noon.

Already, most major roads and highways in the region were closed, including the Harbor Bridge, JFK Causeway and Nueces Bay Causeway. Over 75 accidents were reported Thursday night alone in about a three hour period.
