There are the basic birthday celebrations, like the ones with balloons, cake and pin the tail on the donkey. And then there are Google-style celebrations, with Google Doodles. Today is the 183rd anniversary of the birth of author Jules Verne, and Google is honoring the “20,000 Leagues Under the Sea” writer with a special Google logo that depicts a deep sea adventure.
Jules Verne — the author of timeless sci-fi classics such as Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea, Around the World in Eighty Days, and A Journey to the Center of the Earth — was born on February 8, 1828. In honor of the “father of science fiction’s” 183rd birthday, Google has created an amazing underwater interactive doodle within its homepage logo.
The search engine has paid tribute to the writer’s undersea novel Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea with an interactive doodle featuring an ocean scene viewed through the portholes of a submarine.
iPad and iPhone users who tilt their device can watch the water level move in any direction they wish.
We have lost count on how many times Google have used a Doodle as their log to celebrate an event; today is no exception and celebrates the birthday of Jules Verne. Most doodles are just plain logos, but this one is different, as it is an interactive one and shows of what is considered his greatest work “Twenty Thousand Leagues Under The Sea.”
If you visit the Google homepage today you will see the new interactive doodle and notice that there is a lever to the right and the logo with portholes. This is actually a submarine and the lever its control stick. You can move the stick, which in turn moves the underwater vessel, showing you some creatures from under the see.
